glimpses from kritsnie's world

die lucky bush

It's 40 years since the six days war and the occupation by Israel of Gaza and the West Bank. It's a bleak anniversary - 40 years in the wilderness, and still counting. The inspiring thing is the actions it has prompted in the Israeli peace movement as they come together to again stand up to their own government and many of their co-citizens.

In Jerusalem's main shopping street there's a small indication of their resistance: there's a graffiti, in green, bold letters, on a dustbin. It reads "DIE LUCKY BUSH". It's a message that doesn't make much sense unless you know enough Hebrew to let it circulate a couple of times in your head and come out again as "daila kibush" - ENOUGH OCCUPATION

The big day for shouting DAILA KIBUSH! is Saturday June 9th, the international day against the occupation and for a just peace in this area. Join in!
